ER/MedSurg/Swing Bed RN

• Turtle Lake, North Dakota

Assignment Details

• 13-week contract
• 12-hour shifts
• Days and nights
• 36 hours per week
• Critical Access rural location
• 25-bed ER / MedSurg / Swing Bed Unit

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• 2 years of experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Must have understanding of dementia, stroke, and skin care geriatric patient care

Unit / Patient Population

• Common patients include dependent older adults, geriatric patients, dementia, diabetes, rehab/restorative care post-acute illness, IV medication, fluid and blood administration, COVID, wounds, initial care of trauma patients in the ER, exacerbation of chronic illnesses, and general rehab post-surgery

Staffing / Workflow

• Nurse-patient ratio is 1:8 with team nursing
• Charge nurse on each shift
• Nurse aides/CNA on each shift
• RN does not need to manage RT equipment beyond troubleshooting
• Patient-managed CPAP only
• Floating to ER / Medsurg Support
• Team scheduling; block scheduling possible if requested
• Every other weekend
• Alternating holidays, usually every other holiday
• No call or standby requirement
• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation

• No prior travel experience required
• No clinical involvement
• Scrubs required; no specific color
