Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN)

Role

• Temp Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN), Days
• Based in Des Moines, Iowa
• Traveler will be required to float across all campuses

Unit / Setting

• Operating room with 16 ORs
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Bed size: 16
• Average caseload: 35-50 cases per day
• Expectation for turnovers: less than 20 minutes
• Service lines include cardiac/PV, neuro, ortho (primarily trauma), robotics, gyn, uro, general, pediatrics, transplants, ENT, and plastic procedures
• Level I trauma center
• Scrubs provided

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Iowa
• 2 years of Operating Room experience
• Operating Room experience within the last year
• Circulating/operating room experience
• Experience in DaVinci robotics cases
• Experience in pediatric cases
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic
• One completed travel assignment within the previous 15 months
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

• Scrub experience
• Experience in Neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, Ear, nose, throat, and Vascular cases
• Trauma Level I experience
• Professional reference / reference check from within the last 24 months

Scheduling / Assignment Notes

• 16-hour NBO
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
• Weekend call runs from end of shift Friday until 0630 Monday

Additional Notes

• No locals; candidates must be at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s license
• Past employees of UPH who were FTE or PRN for the float pool cannot work travel in another market for 12 months
• Call back applies only after clocking out, leaving the premises, and then being called back in
