Overview

• Rural hospital in southwest Kansas
• 10-bed general ICU
• 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36-hour guarantee

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must understand working in a rural setting and using telehealth for critical care/pulm
• Must be able to read telemetry strips and escalate as needed

Preferred / Helpful Experience

• Experience with CRRT

Unit Details

• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, analgesics, metabolic, and specialized drips
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are available depending on volume
• Hospitalist is in house
• RT is in ICU 24/7
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and vents
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit

Scheduling

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Full-time and part-time staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage is required
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• May float within Zone 4 if there is extreme need
• First to float

Orientation

• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
• Orientation date and location are assigned during the week of orientation

Other

• Navy blue scrubs
• Radius: 60 miles
• Driver’s license must be submitted
