Assignment Details

• 13-week contract
• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Based in Zone 4
• Unit: ED
• Level III trauma center
• 15 beds and 2 trauma bays
• No fast track
• Separate triage area
• No separate holding area in the ER; ER holds are not intermixed within the ER
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• In-house security 24/7, housed in the ER
• Average volume: 30+ patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Common diagnoses include abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, cough, dyspnea, headache, injury, and extremity pain
• Common drips include cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aids/EMTs/paramedics/patient sitters are shift dependent
• Respiratory equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow
• No monitor techs in the ER
• No X-ray or CT in the ER
• Phlebotomy is done by both phlebotomy staff and RNs
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Weekend requirement: minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement
• Call or standby requirement determined by nurse manager
• May float within Zone 4 in an extreme need
• Scrub color: navy blue
• Orientation date and location assigned during week of orientation
• Must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• PALS
• TNCC
• NIHSS
• Experience with NIHSS and TNCC

Preferred Qualifications

• ENPC
