Labor and Delivery RN
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Seattle, Washington
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 26 weeks
Role details
- High Risk/High Volume L&D
- 4 ORs
- 31 rooms
- 31 beds
- Average daily census: 15/day
- 500–600 deliveries per month
- Functions as Baby Nurse during delivery and continues care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum
- Circulates
- Provides newborn care including eyes, thighs, assessment, and Vit K injections
- Uses heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate
- Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
Required qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- Experience with high-risk labor and delivery
- Experience circulating for C-sections
- Experience with newborn assessment
- Ability to interpret fetal heart rate strips
- Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Antepartum experience
- Post Partum experience
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
Preferred qualifications
- ACLS
- AWHONN Advanced
- AWHONN Intermediate
Scheduling and float
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Pre-approved time off is reviewed case by case
- Float required to postpartum and antepartum
- May float to sister facilities that do Mother/Baby
Additional notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates at the same rate
- Candidates from other Providence facilities outside Swedish may be eligible if separated for at least 3 months
- Active compact license is honored at Swedish facilities
