RN - Med Surg
Overview
- Travel RN role in San Antonio, Texas
- Unit: Surgical (612)
- Classification: RN-M/S
- Assignment length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 7A-7:30P / 7P-7:30A
- Weekend: Every other
- Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
- Call required: No
- Floating required: Yes, as needed
- Unit has 40 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:5/6
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS
- 2 years of Med Surg experience
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- Experience with Meditech
- IV-peripheral start and care
- Central line care
- Tubes/drains: NG, JP, chest tube
- Ostomy care
- Insert and care of Foley
Preferred Qualifications
- Tracheostomy care
- Wound vacs and large dressing changes
- 3-way bladder irrigation
- Teaching and explaining
- Patient Communication Board
- Meditech experience
Unit Details
- Unit staffing includes 1 unit secretary on days, 3 PCAs on day shift, and 2-3 PCAs on nights
- Procedures on the unit include all surgical procedures, trauma patients, and large wounds
Policies / Dress Code
- Navy scrub top and pants for RN; navy or white scrub jacket
- No acrylic nails, nails no longer than 1/4 inch, clean, no chipped nail polish
- Hair must be off shoulders and natural color
- Body art should be covered whenever possible
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
