RN II - MST / Medical Telemetry

• Prescott Valley, Arizona

Assignment Overview

• Travel support needed for the Med Surg Tele and Multi Care unit.
• 13-week contract
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• MST/PCU (Med Surg Tele/PCU)
• 30 beds across three 10-bed units
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
• Remote Monitor Techs are used, and RNs read telemetry strips

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• Minimum 1 year in MedSurg
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry
• Must be willing to care for both MST and PCU patients
• Must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract
• Must be willing to precept nursing students

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in telemetry

Patient Population / Clinical Experience

• Surgical: total hip and knee replacement, small bowel resection, hysterectomy, exploratory lap
• Medical: MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempt, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, COVID
• Telemetry: chest pain
• Stable c-pap or bi-pap patients

Floating

• Float to Multi Care Unit and Pediatric unit to care for adult MST patients
• Float to West Campus MedSurg Tele
• First to float

Scheduling

• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation
• If low census, staff rotates standby turns; travelers may or may not be included depending on contract

Additional Notes

• May be asked to precept nursing students
• No titrating drips required
• Any scrub color except camouflage
• Unit orientation is based on experience
