Description
Dialysis RN
Location
- Williston, North Dakota
Assignment Details
- 13-week contract
- Outpatient Dialysis
- 36 hours per week guaranteed
- Day and evening shifts
- Rotating weekends
- Every other holiday
- Must be willing to pick up shifts when needed
- No clinical involvement
Required Qualifications
- BLS certification
- Chronic dialysis experience
- Must be willing to read water room and use bicarb mixer
Unit Details
- Licensed for 7 chairs
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3-4
- Adult to geriatric patient population
- Patients include catheters and fistulas
- Minimum of two nurses in the department at all times
- Three nurses at shift change to turn over machines/chairs
Schedule and Orientation
- Varied shifts, including:
- M/W/F 5a-5:30p or 9a-10p
- Tu/Th/S 5a-5:30p, 5a-1:30p, or 9a-5:30p
- Shift times and days may vary based on census
- Team scheduling
- 3 unit-specific orientation shifts, 12 hours each, with another RN working the floor; depends on experience
Additional Notes
- Charge Nurse on shift
- Nephrologist onsite two days a month for rounds; otherwise available by phone
- No Medical Assistants or CNAs
- No Patient Care Techs
- Common medications include heparin, Hep B vaccine, Flu Vaccine, Zemplar, Ferleccit, cinacalcet, midodrine, darbepoetin alfa, Tylenol, Zofran, and occasional antibiotics
- Equipment used: Fersenius 2008T
- EMR: Clarity
- Any color scrubs
- ER and Code team available if patient has sudden change in status
- Next closest KDU is a 2 hour drive
- Some patients drive 5 hours to receive dialysis
- Helpful attributes: teamwork, motivation, compassionate care, patient safety, and attention to infection control
Restrictions
- Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past 12 months
- RTO must be provided upfront; additional RTO will not be approved, including after submission
