Hospice RN

Role Overview

• Hospice RN providing home nursing care under physicians’ orders and agency policies.
• Directly supervises and evaluates Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
• Home visits are required, with periodic office meetings.
• Hospice assignment with a weekend schedule.

Location

• East Hartford, Connecticut
• Territory includes New Haven/New London counties
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic

Schedule

• Day shift, 5x8 hours
• 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• Weekend position
• Some positions in the western territory may use a Baylor schedule: 4x10s Friday-Monday
• Standard schedule is 5x8s Monday-Friday

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Connecticut
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Hospice (1 year of experience)
• Hospice experience within the last year
• Home Health experience
• One completed travel assignment
• Current BLS/CPR issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Driver's License
• Must have reliable transportation
• Agency-required liability insurance
• Must have license in hand
• Experience with Homecare Homebase
• Experience with OASIS

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in OASIS for RNs

Assignment Details

• Average patient load: 5–8 patients per day
• Approximately 30 points per week
• About 150 miles of travel per week
• Hospice cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, and Follow-up Visits
• Guaranteed hours: No
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate

• Scrubs dress code
• Weekend on-call position
• On-call details vary by location and profession
• Pending license not accepted
• Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate
• Travel is compensated from patient home to patient home; commute to first and last patient is not billable
• Contract length: 13 weeks
