Location

• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• Med/Surg & Tele
• 36 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Nurse aide ratio: 1:5

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• Must be comfortable reading tele strips and escalating concerns to a physician
• Must be able to titrate drips

Clinical Setting

• Common patient types include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• RT equipment on the unit includes Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, and vents

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling are available
• Full-time and part-time staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday coverage is required
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• First to float; may float within Zone 3 if needed

Additional Notes

• Week of orientation must be completed in state
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit
