Float Scope

• MS & Tele
• If there is an extreme need, may float within Zone 3

Schedule

• Nights
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling

Weekend Requirement

• Full- and part-time employees are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• Cardiac drips
• Post cath lab experience
• Must be able to titrate drips

Preferred / Additional Clinical Details

• Common patient types include CHF, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Tele techs monitor 24/7, and the RN co-signs strips
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on day shift, 1:5 on night shift
• Nurse aides are on the unit, approximately 10-12:a
• RT equipment includes CPAP, HFNC, and NRB
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Scrub color: navy blue; caribbean blue scrubs for RNs at SAN

Orientation / Start Details

• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are remote
• Date and location are assigned during the week of orientation
• Nights, 6-9 weekends in a 6-week schedule, first to float
