ER Nurse
Role
Travel contract ER nurse.

San Bernardino, California

13 weeks
Unit Details
- Unit: ER
- 24 beds, 0 trauma bays
- Fast track is run out of a separate area; travelers are typically in the main ER
- No inpatient pediatric or behavioral health unit
Required Qualifications
- 2 full years of experience
- Active BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIH
- CA License
Preferred Qualifications
- Trauma experience preferred
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts
- Shift times: 0645-1915 / 1845-0715
- Must be flexible
- Every other weekend, with possible every-weekend coverage depending on staffing
- Holidays are expected
Patient Volume and Acuity
- 250 visits per day
- Ratios: 2:1 / 4:1
- Common patient types include STEMI, Cardiac, Sepsis, ETOH, Stroke, and DKA
Additional Details
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Floating: none
- Floor orientation: 1 day
- Cerner Power Chart is used
- Charge nurse does not take patients
- ER techs assist with tech duties and patient sitting
- RT typically maintains vents
- Phlebotomists draw labs unless central line
- 24/7 RT and pharmacy coverage
