Location

• Parkersburg, West Virginia

Assignment Length

• 13 weeks

Unit

• 4N Ortho-Neuro (1033)
• 33 beds, all private rooms

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Day shift
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend

Required Qualifications

• BLS
• WV or compact RN license
• Experience with ortho patients
• Experience with PCA pumps
• Unexpired copy of the candidate’s driver’s license must be included with submittal

Preferred Qualifications

• EPIC experience

Clinical Details

• Common patient types include elective hips, knees, shoulders, fractures from falls, back and neck neuro-surgeries, and general MedSurg
• Ratios are 1:6
• IV fluids and PCA pumps are used
• No heparin or other drips
• Remote tele may be used if needed
• RN does not have to read strips
• RT-managed equipment may include CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow

Floating

• Floating is required to any MedSurg units
• If floated to Tele, patients are assigned within skillset

Orientation

• 1 day of EPIC orientation
• 1 day of floor orientation with a preceptor
• On their own on day 3

Additional Notes

• Travelers are scheduled where needed
• Block scheduling may be allowed if unit needs are met
• Holidays depend on unit needs
• Travelers may be called off for low census
• Scrub color is royal blue
• Scrub jackets, if worn, must be actual scrub jackets and royal blue
• No hoodies or sweat-jackets
