Role

• RN (Registered Nurse) for a MedSurg unit in Omaha, Nebraska.
• 13-week contract.
• Day shift, 12 hours per day, 48 hours per week.

Unit Details

• Med/Surg unit with 28 beds.
• Patient mix includes cardiology, surgical oncology, urology, and complex general med surg patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6.
• Tele is on the unit, with centralized monitoring techs; RNs must be able to read basic strips.
• RT support/equipment listed includes nasal cannula, less than 6L if acute, and trach collar.

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification.
• RN license.
• Driver’s license required at submittal.
• Able to care for a wide variety of patients.
• Willingness to teach/precept and learn.
• Must pass an open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher.

Schedule and Work Expectations

• 12-hour shifts with self-scheduling, per manager for unit balancing.
• Every other weekend required.
• Holidays required; no RTO approved over holidays.
• No call or standby requirement.
• Floating is per skill level.

Additional Notes

• Academic institute setting.
• 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation.
• Navy blue scrubs.
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments.
