Interventional Radiology Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Port Charlotte, Florida
• Contract length: 26 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• Unit: Interventional Radiology, IR suite
• Bed capacity: 253
• Staff in Interventional Radiology: 6

Required Qualifications

• Valid Florida RN license
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience within the last year
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification
• NIHSS certification
• Experience working with stroke patients
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
• ED - Emergency Department experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous IR experience in a hospital setting

Schedule / Work Expectations

• Scheduled in accordance with facility policy
• Every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees
• On-call participation for nights and weekends

Clinical Setting

• Interventional Radiology nurse role
• Day shift coverage includes 2 IR RNs and 2-3 IR Techs
• Patient ratio: 1:1 variable
• Equipment: GE Bi-plane
• EMR: Meditech, PACs Mckesson

Responsibilities

• Carry out physician orders
• Administer medications
• Perform initial assessments
• Develop plan of care
• Check lab results
• Review patient medical history
• Insert and remove intravenous lines
• Oversee patient safety and comfort before, during, and after procedures
• Educate patients and families about procedures, follow-up care, and discharge instructions
• Assist as circulator or scrub in to support IR techs during procedures
