Location: Richmond, Virginia Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36

Unit Overview

• Unit: Neuroscience ICU (NSICU)
• Beds: 12
• Staffing:

  • Day shift: 1 charge RN, 5 RNs, 1 CNA, and 1 secretary
  • Night shift: 1 charge RN and 5 RNs
• Patient Ratio: 2:1
• Equipment: ICU equipment
• Weekends and On-Call: Every other weekend; no on-call
• Dress Code: Navy scrubs

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• 2 years of Neuro ICU experience
• Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• Experience working with stroke patients

Typical Procedures

• Ventriculostomy insertion
• Status post (s/p) thrombectomy procedures
• S/p TPA administration
• S/p tumor resection and biopsy
• Lumbar drain and ventricular management
• Pupillometer monitoring every hour
