CT Tech

Location: Lafayette, Colorado Employment type: Clinical (non-nursing) Contract length: 13 weeks Shift: Evening 8, Monday through Thursday, 11:00 to 20:30 Hours: 9 hours per day, 36 hours per week On call: Rotating call and assigned holidays

Role Summary

The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes, using independent judgment to produce high-quality scans.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CT equipment and related information systems to produce quality images, and review images for quality, clarity, and accuracy.
• Verify patient identification and orders, prepare patients, and perform exams per department protocol.
• Administer contrast media as ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision, and educate patients on contrast safety.
• Follow radiation safety guidelines, infection control, and sterile technique.
• Complete studies within department time expectations without compromising care or exam quality.
• Keep accurate records, follow coding, charging, consent, and QC protocols, and report equipment failures.
• Assist and instruct students and other radiology technologists.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree
• Certifications and licensure:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • ARRT(R) certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Licensure in state of practice, as applicable
• Skills: Sectional anatomy, anatomic terminology, positioning competency, CT imaging techniques and protocols, contrast administration protocols (including contrast injector operation, as applicable), electronic image viewing and manipulation, and the ability to recognize emergent patient situations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: 1 to 2 years of CT experience, and 1 to 2 years of experience in a healthcare or acute care setting
• Certifications:

  • ARRT(R)(CT) certification
  • Fluoroscopy certification (for caregivers hired in Colorado)
• Radiation badge: Required, provided by supplier preferred
