Job Opportunity: Radiologic Technologist – Interventional Radiology

Location: New York (State)

Position Overview

Seeking a Radiologic Technologist with interventional radiology experience, preferably with a background in neurosurgery/neuroscience. The unit provides training for RTs coming from other modalities for up to six months when starting in neuro IR.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Select exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce diagnostic quality radiologic images.
• Collaborate effectively with department members to resolve issues promptly.
• Exhibit flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when interacting with patients and staff.
• Maintain awareness and sensitivity to patient rights in all patient interactions.

Areas of Emphasis

• Administer oral contrast as needed per exam.
• Prepare and instruct patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic exams and assist Radiologists during procedures.
• Operate all x-ray equipment, including CR and DR systems, with competence and proficiency.
• Report equipment malfunctions to management or lead staff.
• Complete assigned procedures timely and assist with departmental tasks during downtime (clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc.).
• Maintain medication security, ensuring access only to authorized personnel.
• Provide healthcare services competently across all age groups.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with patients of all ages.

Documentation and Information Management

• Use Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS competently.
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality by using personal passwords and safeguarding patient information.
• Handle technical telephone inquiries from physicians and hospital personnel professionally.

Requirements

• BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY)
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Valid New York State licensure

Additional Information

• Shift length: 5-8 hours with potential negotiation for up to 4-10 hour shifts
• No rotating shift schedule
• 2-3 call shifts per month
• At least 1 holiday assignment per month
