Travel Respiratory Therapist – Nights
Location: Durham, NC
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3x12s
Position Summary:
The Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory therapy and patient transport within the scope of licensure and under minimal supervision. Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans, educates patients and families, and ensures safe, effective respiratory care.
Key Responsibilities:

Administers physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.

Performs chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), oximetry, and capnography monitoring.

Conducts 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.

Performs pulmonary function studies (NIF, VC, etc.) and assists with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.

Manages arterial puncture and evaluates ventilation efficiency.

Provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS standards.

Operates, maintains, and monitors mechanical ventilation; sets up and performs self-tests on equipment.

Performs lab-related respiratory tasks including specimen handling, testing, documentation, and quality controls for moderate complexity labs.

Records all patient care and treatment responses accurately in charts and therapy records.

Communicates effectively with physicians, team members, and during hand-off rounds.

Maintains accurate therapy charges and documentation in compliance with hospital policy.

Performs other duties as assigned to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
Requirements:

Active Respiratory Therapist license
-
BLS required; ACLS preferred

Minimum 2 years of acute care experience preferred

Prior travel experience is a plus
