X-Ray Technologist

Job Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physicians’ orders before x-ray procedures.
• Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs as ordered.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions.
• Position patients appropriately, including lifting and moving those with limited mobility.
• Handle radiologic equipment safely, minimizing radiation dose to patients.
• Observe patient status and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologist interpretation.
• Notify management promptly of any damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient details and exam specifics.
• Maintain accurate patient records by properly identifying and sending images to the PACS system.

Requirements

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• Minimum 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience.
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Patient and compassionate disposition.
• Team player able to maintain a cohesive working environment.
• Ability to report within 30 minutes to on-call shifts.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Experience using c-arm/o-arm within the past 8 months.

Additional Information

• Shifts include days/evenings with on-call, callbacks, and holiday coverage as needed.
• Must be able to respond quickly to on-call shifts (within 30 minutes).
