Travel Sterile Processing Technician – 13 Weeks – Bethpage, NY

Shift Times: 6:00 AM–2:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 37.5
On-Call: None
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

Facility: Large, busy, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center serving 9 facilities, including tertiary hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. Also provides emergency reprocessing services for the region. Free parking available.

About the Role
HumanEdge Health is seeking a skilled Travel Sterile Processing Technician for a 13-week assignment in Bethpage, NY. This high-volume reprocessing center requires technicians who can rotate through all areas, including decontamination, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies per department protocols and manufacturer guidelines

• Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and related equipment

• Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts

• Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from multiple clinical areas for decontamination

• Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality

• Identify and document malfunctioning items; notify supervisor or biomedical engineering as appropriate

• Assist with ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory levels

• Maintain a contaminant-free work environment

• Stand for extended periods; lift/carry up to 25 lbs; bend, reach, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity

• Communicate effectively in English and follow written/oral instructions

Required Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Certification (CRCST or CSPD) — must remain valid for the entire assignment

• High school diploma or equivalent

• 1.5+ years experience with tertiary facility experience, or 2+ years experience without

• Ability to rotate through all functional areas, including decontamination

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years sterile processing experience

• STERIS Washers, Autoclaves

• SynergyTrak IT system
