Travel Surgical Scrub Tech (OB / Labor & Delivery)
Location: Concord, MA
Start Date: 2/9
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Schedule: 36 hours/week | Every other weekend and every other holiday
On Call: None
Guaranteed Hours: 36
Travel Experience: Required
A hospital in Concord, Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Travel Surgical Scrub Technician to support the Labor & Delivery unit on overnight shifts. This role requires prior OB surgical experience and flexibility to function as a unit coordinator when not actively scrubbing.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager and Director of Obstetrical Nursing, the Surgical Technician supports patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role includes scrubbing for cesarean deliveries, maintaining sterile fields, preparing operating rooms, and providing clerical and unit support services in accordance with hospital standards and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities

Scrub in, sterilize, and set up operating rooms for OB procedures

Gather instruments, supplies, equipment, and sutures per surgeon preference cards

Prepare and maintain sterile fields; monitor aseptic technique

Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments efficiently during procedures

Perform sponge, needle, blade, and instrument counts per policy

Assist with patient positioning and transfers

Prepare and label specimens accurately

Transfer and prepare contaminated instruments for decontamination

Assist with room turnover and cleaning when needed

Stock labor and delivery rooms and set OB delivery tables

Coordinate clerical duties at the L&D desk when not scrubbing

Support nursing staff with non-assessment patient care tasks
Requirements

Previous OB Surgical Technician experience (required)

Travel experience (required)

BLS certification
-
Ability to work overnight 12-hour shifts

Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation

Excellent teamwork and communication skills
