HumanEdge Health is seeking a Travel Pathology Assistant for a 13-week assignment in White Plains, New York. This role supports the Anatomic Pathology department in an acute care hospital setting.


<h3>Position Summary</h3>

Assist in the preparation and performance of gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens utilizing established section guidelines and voice recognition dictation systems.


<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>

<ul>
	<li>
	Assist in gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens
	
	</li><li>
	Under pathologist supervision, describe gross anatomic features and prepare tissue sections for microscopic examination
	
	</li><li>
	Prepare frozen and permanent sections for light microscopy, including image capture as requested
	
	</li><li>
	Ensure accurate specimen accessioning and labeling
	
	</li><li>
	Retrieve clinical history, lab data, scans, and X-rays as indicated
	
	</li><li>
	Assist in coding gross specimens during dictation
	
	</li><li>
	Coordinate and organize grossing workflow across both grossing tables
	
	</li><li>
	Utilize and troubleshoot Voice Recognition templates and dictation systems
	
	</li><li>
	Assist with staining and cover slipping for frozen sections
	
	</li><li>
	Download and print cassettes from LIS and accurately enter block/tissue counts
	
	</li><li>
	Select and submit specimens for decalcification
	
	</li><li>
	Assist with gross room inventory management
	
	</li><li>
	Demonstrate safe use of grossing table, handsaw, and cryostat
	
	</li><li>
	Prepare specimens for histology as needed
	
	</li><li>
	Assist with post-mortem examinations when required
	
	</li><li>
	Maintain communication with pathologists and histology staff
	
	</li><li>
	Update Gross Room Manual as needed
	
	</li><li>
	Perform additional related duties as assigned

<h3>Requirements</h3>

	New York State license required

	BLS (AHA) required
	
	</li><li>
	Minimum 1 year of experience required
	
	</li><li>
	B.S. Degree in Biology or related science
	
	</li><li>
	Completion of Pathologists’ Assistant Program or equivalent
	
	</li><li>
	ASCP certification preferred
	
	</li><li>
	Prior experience (2+ years) preferred
