Job Opportunity: Clinical Dietitian / Nutrition Specialist

Job Description

• Prioritize patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and workplace hazard awareness.
• Perform nutrition assessments and reassessments; identify nutrition goals and interventions.
• Develop and monitor enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support regimens in collaboration with pharmacy and medical staff.
• Collaborate with Speech Therapy on diet progression and transitional feeding.
• Ensure nutrition support orders align with facility nutrition formulary and diet manual.
• Consider religious, cultural, and ethnic factors in nutrition care plans.
• Evaluate potential food/drug and herb/supplement interactions.
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and staff.
• Develop and implement educational programs; serve as a resource on evidence-based nutrition practices.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds (e.g., wound care, ventilator weaning).
• Engage in departmental and facility performance improvement programs.
• Advise food service staff on special diet preparation and menu planning.
• Conduct meal rounds and tray audits to ensure diet compliance and quality.
• Review and approve therapeutic diet manuals and menus annually.
• Maintain professional development through continuing education and certifications.
• Act as liaison between patients, medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, and food service.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Approximately 20 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition or related field
• Current state licensure/certification (if required by state)
• Current registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a facility setting or equivalent
• Experience in acute care and nutrition support
