Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
Job Overview
- Maintain delivery of quality nursing care by following the nursing care plan.
- Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees.
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and discharge planning starting from admission.
- Communicate patient status changes to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning and participate in team-building activities.
- Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation as requested.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritize activities and manage time and staff effectively to meet patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission.
- Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
- Initiate patient teaching and discharge planning from day one.
- Provide calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
- Monitor supplies and charges to provide cost-effective care while promoting quality outcomes.
Work Schedule
- Every other weekend and a holiday.
Required Skills and Experience
- ICU experience is required.
- Minimum two (2) years bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
