Registered Nurse (RN) - Contract Position

Job Overview

• Maintain delivery of quality nursing care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed.
• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees.
• Participate actively in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units.
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate.
• Focus on patient and employee safety, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
• Communicate patient status changes to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Maintain a positive, calm, and efficient work environment through teamwork and communication.
• Monitor supplies and equipment needs, ensuring cost-effective care.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation, as requested.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and continuing education.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission.
• Develop individualized plans of care based on assessments.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
• Participate in weekly team conferences to discuss patient status.
• Promote patient and employee safety focusing on:

  • Safe patient handling
  • Materials handling
  • Infectious disease precautions
  • Prevention of slips, trips, and falls
  • Maintaining a safe work environment
• Follow hospital guidelines for personal appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and use problem-solving techniques in decision-making.
• Communicate effectively with management and senior nursing staff regarding service needs.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Skills and Qualifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift (for CIRH only).
• Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience highly desired.
