Occupational Therapist Position

Job Overview

• Plan, organize, develop, administer, direct, and supervise Occupational Therapy (OT) treatment.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines.
• Work schedule: 3 days per week, 20-24 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient’s level of functioning based on physician orders.
• Plan and implement appropriate treatment plans tailored to patient needs and goals.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team processes and discharge planning, including patient/family education and adaptive equipment recommendations.
• Complete all required documentation, including initial evaluations, daily progress notes, treatment programs, and discharge documentation.
• Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs), OT and COTA students, and assist with new staff orientation.
• Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to safety policies and procedures, including safe patient handling and infection control.
• Maintain professional appearance, punctuality, and attendance.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
• Demonstrate continuous quality improvement and customer service attitude.
• Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks.
• Attend and contribute to team conferences and meetings.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and instill confidence in patients, families, and team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety Focus

• Emphasis on a "10 Foot Circle of Safety" including:

  • Safe patient handling
  • Materials handling
  • Infectious disease precautions
  • Prevention of slips, trips, and falls
  • Maintaining a safe work environment

Requirements

• Valid, current State Occupational Therapy license.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
• Minimum of 2 years of OT experience.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months).
