Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Job Overview

Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Deliver superior quality nursing care aligned with organizational core values.
  • Prioritize patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and workplace hazard awareness.
  • Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
  • Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide timely patient status updates during initial and weekly team conferences.
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
  • Participate actively in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units.
  • Implement nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care with emphasis on patient/family education.
  • Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
  • Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
  • Seek consultation from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
  • Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel; delegate appropriately.
  • Ensure personal and environmental safety per hospital policies.
  • Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing calm leadership and reassurance.
  • Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs.
  • Provide cost-effective care while promoting quality patient outcomes.
  • Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation as requested.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-study.
  • Prioritize activities and manage time and staff effectively to meet patient needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years bedside clinical experience required.
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift (if applicable).
  • Supervisory Experience: Ability to supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees.
