Job Summary for Healthcare Recruiters and Workers
Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Charge Nurse Role
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify patient teaching needs and goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information for initial and weekly re-evaluation team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units.
- Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate.
- Educate patients, families, and significant others to achieve patient goals and quality outcomes.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status to care providers, including physicians and charge nurses.
- Seek consultation from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing calm leadership and reassurance.
- Participate in team-building activities to foster a positive work environment.
- Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs.
- Provide cost-effective care while promoting quality patient outcomes.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation as requested.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritize activities and manage time and staff effectively to meet patient needs.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience (highly desired).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift (for CIRH only).
- Supervisory Role: Responsible for supervising Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees.
- Safety Focus: Commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, materials handling, infection control, and workplace hazard awareness.
