Key Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience required
  • Interventional Radiology experience preferred
• Licensing & Certifications:

  • Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist license required
  • BLS (American Heart Association ONLY) required
  • AART certification required
  • Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR) certification is a plus (nice to have)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified or required

Work Schedule

• Shifts typically 5-8 hours, negotiable up to 4-10 hour shifts
• No rotating shift schedule
• 2-3 call shifts per month
• At least 1 holiday assignment per month

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Select exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce diagnostic quality radiologic images
• Work cooperatively with department members to resolve problems quickly
• Demonstrate flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when dealing with patients and customers
• Maintain patient rights awareness and sensitivity
• Administer oral contrast as needed per exam
• Prepare and instruct patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic exams and assist Radiologists during procedures
• Operate all x-ray equipment, CR and DR systems competently
• Report equipment malfunctions to management
• Complete assigned procedures timely and assist with clerical duties, stocking, transporting during downtime
• Maintain medication security to authorized personnel only
• Provide healthcare services competently to all age groups
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with patients of all ages

Documentation and Information Management

• Competent use of Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities when warranted
• Maintain confidentiality using personal passwords and patient care modules
• Handle technical telephone inquiries from physicians and hospital personnel professionally

Additional Notes

• The unit typically trains Radiologic Technologists coming from other modalities for up to six months when starting in neuro Interventional Radiology
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
