Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Job Overview

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Deliver superior quality care while embodying core values such as respect, teamwork, resourcefulness, and results orientation.
• Prioritize patient and employee safety by adhering to safety policies and procedures, including safe patient handling, materials handling, infection control, and fall prevention.
• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Provide timely patient status updates during initial and weekly team conferences.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
• Participate actively in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units.
• Use the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating) with a focus on patient and family education.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
• Seek consultation from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel; delegate appropriately.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety in compliance with hospital policies.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning by supporting staff, patients, and families.
• Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs.
• Provide cost-effective care while promoting quality patient outcomes.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation, as requested.
• Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-study.
• Prioritize activities and staff to meet patient needs effectively.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years bedside clinical experience (highest required specialty experience).
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift (if applicable).
• Skills: Must have experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required.
