Job Opportunity: Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

• Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
• Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
• Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options.
• Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff to design appropriate treatment plans.
• Administer and monitor reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
• Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
• Assist clients in understanding emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment.
• Help maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
• Test for vital signs of pain and ensure pain treatments.
• Document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician’s written orders.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
• Keep accurate records of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping.
• Perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system.
• Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and the public by responding to requests or making appropriate referrals.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) License (New York State only)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association only)
• CPI Certification (CPI Blue Card)

Schedule

• Rotating shifts (Day/Evening/Night)
• Includes weekends, holidays, on-call, callback, and charge nurse duties per unit needs
