X-Ray Technologist Position Overview

Responsibilities

• Verify patients' identity and review physicians’ orders before beginning x-ray procedures.
• Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs as per physicians’ written orders.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions.
• Position patients accordingly, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
• Handle all radiologic equipment safely, keeping radiation dose to patients as low as possible.
• Observe each patient’s status and interpret information to meet age-specific needs.
• Produce diagnostic, high-quality images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
• Notify management promptly of damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems to verify patient details and exam specifics.
• Maintain accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and ensuring correct transmission to PACS system.

Requirements

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license or ability to obtain prior to starting.
• Minimum 2 years of X-Ray Technologist experience (including Level 1 trauma center experience).
• Ability to move or lift patients.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Patient and compassionate disposition.
• Team player capable of maintaining a cohesive working environment.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association ONLY).

Schedule

• Weekends:

  • Friday: 10:30 AM to midnight
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM to midnight
  • Sunday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with call/holiday coverage
