Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Job Overview
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Deliver superior quality nursing care aligned with core company values including teamwork, resourcefulness, and results orientation.
- Prioritize patient and employee safety by adhering to safety policies and procedures, identifying hazards, and promoting a safe work environment.
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Provide timely patient information for initial and weekly team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
- Participate actively in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units.
- Utilize the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating) with a focus on patient/family education.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
- Seek consultation from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel; delegate appropriately.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in compliance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing calm leadership and participating in team-building.
- Maintain communication with management regarding supplies, equipment, and training needs.
- Provide cost-effective care while promoting quality patient outcomes.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities after orientation as requested.
- Pursue ongoing professional development through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritize activities and staff time effectively to meet patient needs.
Requirements
- Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years bedside clinical experience (highly desired).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required prior to first shift (for CIRH only).
- Supervisory Experience: Ability to supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees.
Additional Notes
- Emphasis on safety awareness including safe patient handling, materials handling, infection control, and fall prevention.
- Strong communication and leadership skills required.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
