Electrophysiology Registered Nurse (EP RN) - Job Summary

Job Duties

• Perform diagnostic electrophysiology procedures and interventions, such as electrocardiograms, in a clinical setting.
• Prepare patients for procedures and ensure all equipment and instrumentation are functioning properly.
• Monitor procedure read-outs or recordings and assist with lab analysis and data interpretation.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, specialists, and in-room staff to ensure availability of equipment and supplies.
• Assist with pacing implementation and installation of permanent cardiac devices.
• Facilitate room turnover and on-time starts for timely patient care.
• Coordinate with Charge Nurse and third-party vendors for scheduled procedures.
• Assist at the sterile field prepping patients and equipment for studies and ablations as the circulator.
• Maintain fluids for ablation catheters and assist with ablator during procedures.
• Provide patient-focused care, assist anesthesia, document during studies and ablations, and provide backup pacing during implants.
• Document procedures primarily using Epic electronic health record system.
• Proficient in moderate sedation.

Typical Procedures

• RF ablations (Cryo ablations) for Atrial Fibrillation/Flutter, Atrial Tachycardia, AVNRT, WPW, and other ANRT ablations.
• Use of mapping systems such as Biosense Webster Carto, Abbott Ensite/Precision, Rhythmia.
• Device implants including traditional pacemakers (single, dual, CSP, BiV), ICDs, Subcutaneous ICDs, Leadless pacemakers, Loop recorders, and LAAC devices (Watchman, Amulet).
• Low-risk laser procedures.

Requirements

• License: New York State RN license required.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in electrophysiology nursing.
• Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
• Skills: Proficiency in moderate sedation.
• Preferred (not required): Cardiac implant or structural heart scrub experience; experience with GE MacLab & CardioLab systems.

Schedule

• 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each.
• Primarily day shifts with some late nights, holidays, and on-call as needed.
• No weekend shifts at this time.
