Job Opportunity: House Supervisor (Night Shift)
Job Overview
- Role involves maintaining delivery of quality nursing care by ensuring nursing care plans are followed.
- Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and orientees.
- Assumes charge nurse responsibilities following orientation.
- Participates in team building and promotes a positive, efficient work environment.
- Prioritizes patient and employee safety, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
- Provides direct patient care using the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating.
- Initiates discharge planning and patient teaching from day of admission.
- Communicates patient status changes to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
- Provides direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
- Maintains communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, equipment, and training.
- Actively pursues professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission.
- Develop individualized plans of care based on assessments.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Provide calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
- Monitor supplies and promote cost-effective care while ensuring quality outcomes.
Required Skills and Certifications
- BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
- ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift for CIRH only)
- Acute Care Background (LTAC, ICU) required
- Previous Charge Nurse experience required
- Minimum 2 years bedside clinical experience highly desired
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Additional Notes
- Emphasis on patient and employee safety with focus on safe patient handling, infectious disease control, and workplace hazard awareness.
- Must follow hospital guidelines on personal appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
- Expected to use problem-solving techniques in decision-making, organizing, and prioritizing work.
This position is ideal for experienced nurses with acute care backgrounds and prior charge nurse experience who are committed to patient safety and quality care.
