Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Neuro Rad Tech

Job Summary

Seeking a Radiologic Technologist with experience or interest in interventional radiology, specifically neuro IR. The unit typically provides up to six months of training for RTs coming from other modalities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Select exposure factors and positioning to consistently produce diagnostic quality radiologic images.
• Work cooperatively with department members to resolve problems quickly.
• Exhibit flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when interacting with patients and customers.
• Maintain awareness and sensitivity to patient rights.
• Administer oral contrast as needed per exam.
• Prepare and instruct patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic exams and assist Radiologists during procedures.
• Operate all x-ray equipment, CR and DR systems competently.
• Report equipment malfunctions to management.
• Complete assigned procedures timely and assist with clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc., during downtime.
• Maintain medication security, ensuring access only to authorized personnel.
• Provide healthcare services competently across all age groups.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with patients of all ages.

Documentation and Information Management

• Use Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS competently.
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality using personal passwords and patient care modules.
• Handle technical telephone inquiries professionally.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid Radiologic Technologist license in New York State.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in radiologic technology.
• Specialty Experience: Neurosurgery/Neuroscience experience required.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
  • AART certification required
  • Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR) certification is a plus

Work Schedule

• 4x10 hour shifts, days
• Weekends, holidays, on-call/callback as needed
• On-call frequency: 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends per month

• Prior travel experience is not specified or required.
• Training available for those transitioning from other modalities into neuro IR.
