Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary

Provide quality respiratory care including intensive respiratory treatments and patient transport within the scope of your professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, educating patients, performing physician-prescribed respiratory treatments, operating ventilatory equipment, suctioning, monitoring via oximetry and capnography, performing chest physiotherapy, and assisting with respiratory-related procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer invasive and non-invasive ventilatory support and oxygen therapy.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
• Monitor patients using oximetry, capnography, and 12-lead EKG with arrhythmia recognition.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care.
• Perform arterial punctures and interpret ventilation efficiency.
• Follow laboratory testing policies for specimen handling and quality control.
• Perform CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Insert and remove endotracheal tubes using free hand or video laryngoscope techniques.
• Maintain and operate mechanical ventilators, assist with equipment maintenance.
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and during shift hand-offs.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist
• Active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent
• BLS certification prior to first shift
• ACLS certification prior to first shift
• Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience in respiratory therapy
