Job Title

SMH Level 3 RN ED Obs 1/G16 Float

Job Description

• Provide care for adult patients in the Observation unit who require additional monitoring to determine if hospital admission is necessary or if they can be safely discharged.
• Fast-paced environment with 20 to 27 patient turnovers per day.
• Average patient length of stay is approximately 27 hours.
• Unit operates with 24/7 provider coverage.
• Care for a diverse adult patient population including emergency observation and admitted boarding patients.
• Patient stays range from short-term observation to full admissions.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) License for New York State only.
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience.
• Telemetry experience required.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association only) - Required
  • ACLS (American Heart Association only) - Required
  • NIHSS certification preferred (not required)

Work Schedule

• Days, Evenings, Nights
• Rotating shifts
• On call, call back, charge nurse duties
• Holidays and weekends as needed
