Job Description

• Highly trained Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) role requiring collaboration with surgeons and the healthcare team to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes.
• Practices perioperative nursing with specific knowledge, skills, and judgment for the operating room and RNFA role.
• Works under the direction of the surgeon during the operative phase.
• Performs duties of OR staff RN when not assigned as RNFA.
• Combined circulating/scrubbing and RNFA role.
• Robotic surgery experience preferred.
• No weekend shifts; evening call and rotating holiday coverage required.
• Monday-Friday day shifts, on-call responsibilities until 11 pm.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse License (New York State only).
• CNOR Certification (required).
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant program.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
• Two (2) years of experience required (or experience in a Level 1 trauma center preferred).
• Proficient in perioperative nursing practice; scrubbing and circulating experience preferred.
• Experience with DaVinci robotic surgery required, including:

  • Robotic Urology
  • Robotic Gynecology
  • Robotic Colorectal
  • Robotic Surgical Oncology (e.g., Whipples, gastrectomies, hernias)
  • Robotic Thoracic
  • Robotic General Surgery (e.g., gallbladders, appendectomies)

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
• Robotic surgery experience preferred.

Schedule

• 36 or 48 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday day shifts.
• No weekends.
• Evening call and rotating holiday coverage as needed (on-call until 11 pm).
