Job Opportunity: Sterile Processing Technician (Nights)

Job Description

Work in a state-of-the-art Sterile Processing Department responsible for the decontamination, high-level disinfection, assembling, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments, trays, and pans. The department supports 35 operating rooms, ambulatory care units, and clinics using advanced sterilization equipment and tracking systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, trays, and case carts following established protocols.
• Operate steam sterilizers, monitor gauges, perform simple maintenance, and ensure sterility through testing and documentation.
• Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment, prevent cross-contamination, and handle infectious waste per protocol.
• Check and adjust medical equipment to ensure proper operation; send faulty equipment for repair.
• Receive, store, and document surgical supplies; maintain inventory and par levels.
• Perform quality assurance on sterile supplies and instruments, including daily checks on stock levels, sterility dates, and procedure cart accuracy.
• Maintain critical documentation such as biological indicators and sterilizer load sheets.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (HSPA or CBSPD)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
• Experience in a large hospital setting (500+ beds)
• Prior travel experience of at least 6 months required
• Two professional references from the last two assignments

Preferred Qualifications

• Level 1 trauma center experience
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) certification
• Orthopedic tray experience

Additional Information

• Schedule includes nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call/callback as needed
• Full-time, 40 hours per week
