Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist

Job Description

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory treatments and managing patient transport as medically prescribed. Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans.
  • Educating patients on treatments, tests, and equipment, including discharge instructions.
  • Administering physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using various ventilatory, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices.
  • Performing chest physiotherapy and suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
  • Monitoring patients with oximetry and capnography.
  • Reviewing chest x-rays to assess patient needs.
  • Conducting 12-Lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
  • Performing pulmonary function studies.
  • Assisting with respiratory-related procedures (e.g., bronchoscopy, chest tube placement).
  • Managing chest drainage devices.
  • Providing tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tubes.
  • Performing arterial punctures and evaluating ventilation efficiency.
  • Following laboratory testing policies for specimen handling and quality control.
  • Performing CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
  • Inserting and removing endotracheal tubes using free hand or video laryngoscope techniques.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and monitoring mechanical ventilation equipment.
  • Assisting with equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Documenting treatments and patient responses accurately.
  • Communicating effectively with physicians and during shift handoffs.
  • Maintaining accurate respiratory therapy billing records.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Contract Length

  • Approximately 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist
  • BLS certification prior to first shift
  • ACLS certification prior to first shift
  • Active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience (highly desired)
