Job Overview

Seeking a Radiologic Technologist with experience or interest in interventional radiology, specifically neuro IR. The unit typically provides up to six months of training for technologists coming from other modalities.

Work Schedule

• 4x10 hour shifts, days
• Weekends, holidays, on-call/callback as needed
• Call frequency: 1-2 times per week and 1-2 weekends per month

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Select exposure factors and positioning to produce diagnostic quality radiologic images
• Work cooperatively with department members to resolve issues quickly
• Demonstrate flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability with patients and coworkers
• Maintain awareness and sensitivity to patient rights
• Administer oral contrast as needed per exam
• Prepare and instruct patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic exams and assist Radiologist during procedures
• Operate all x-ray equipment, CR and DR systems competently
• Report equipment malfunctions promptly
• Complete assigned procedures efficiently and assist others during downtime (clerical duties, stocking, transporting)
• Maintain medication security for authorized personnel only
• Provide healthcare services competently to all age groups
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all age groups

Documentation and Information Management

• Use Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS competently
• Participate in hospital performance improvement activities as needed
• Maintain confidentiality using personal passwords and patient care modules
• Handle technical telephone inquiries professionally

Required Qualifications

• Licensed Radiologic Technologist in New York State
• American Heart Association BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of experience in radiologic technology
• Experience in neurosurgery/neuroscience required
• ARRT certification required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or certification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) is a plus
