Pediatric X-Ray Technologist

Job Description

• Verify patient identity and review physicians’ orders before x-ray procedures.
• Use x-ray equipment to take radiographic images of bones, tissues, and organs as ordered.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer their questions.
• Position patients appropriately, including lifting and moving patients with limited mobility.
• Handle radiologic equipment safely, minimizing radiation dose to patients.
• Observe patient status and address age-specific needs.
• Produce high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Report any damaged or malfunctioning x-ray equipment promptly.
• Use electronic patient information systems to verify patient details and exam specifics.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure images are correctly sent to the PACS system.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• On-call/callback/holidays as needed (2-3 call shifts per month)
• Ability to report within 30 minutes for on-call shifts

Required Qualifications

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Valid state X-Ray Technologist license (or ability to obtain prior to starting)
• Minimum 2 years of X-ray Technologist experience
• Minimum 1 year of pediatric experience
• Minimum 1 year of Level 1 trauma center experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• Ability to move or lift patients and stand for extended periods
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills
• Patient, compassionate, and a team player

Additional Notes

• Experience with pediatric fluoroscopy exams (UGI, VCUGs, Barium Enema, etc.) and NICU portable x-rays is important; candidates should include a skills checklist indicating familiarity with these procedures.
