Pediatric MRI Technologist

Job Summary

Seeking an MRI Technologist experienced in pediatric imaging (neonates through age 18). The role involves operating MRI machines efficiently, providing age-appropriate patient care, and coordinating with physicians to ensure timely diagnostic results. Must be comfortable standing for extended periods and familiar with medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe scanning environment
• Coordinate with physicians for diagnostic imaging
• Prepare patients for scans and explain procedures to ensure comfort
• Insert IVs when necessary (IV placement not performed by this role)
• Document procedures while maintaining patient confidentiality
• Provide patient care as needed
• Adhere to MRI safety policies and guidelines
• Adjust scanning parameters for various patient ages
• Screen and prepare patients properly for scanning
• Identify contraindications for safe scanning
• Independently determine when to stop a scan due to motion and when sedation/anesthesia is needed

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience
• At least 6 months of pediatric MRI experience
• Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• New York State Radiologic Technologist License (must be obtained prior to start if not currently held)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Experience with Siemens MRI scanners
• Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM EST
• Holidays as needed per unit requirements
• No on-call duties
