Job Opportunity: House Supervisor (Night)

Job Summary

The House Supervisor (Night) role involves maintaining the delivery of quality nursing care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. This position includes supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. The role requires strong leadership skills to provide calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families, and to contribute positively to the unit’s functioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Identify patient teaching needs and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information for initial and weekly team conferences.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly.
• Participate actively in patient rehabilitation programs on the assigned unit.
• Use the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating) to provide direct patient care, prioritizing patient/family education.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
• Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
• Seek consultation from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
• Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, equipment, and training.
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation as requested.
• Engage in professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
• Prioritize activities and manage time and staff effectively to meet patient needs.
• Participate in team-building activities to foster a positive work environment.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license
• BLS Certification required prior to first shift
• ACLS Certification required prior to first shift
• Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience highly desired
