Occupational Therapist

Job Description

  • Plan, organize, develop, administer, direct, and supervise occupational therapy treatment in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Assess patient’s level of functioning upon physician orders and implement appropriate treatment plans.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team processes and discharge planning, including patient/family education and adaptive equipment.
  • Complete all required documentation, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and OT students, including orientation and application of therapy techniques.
  • Promote patient and employee safety, focusing on safe patient handling, infectious disease precautions, and workplace safety.
  • Maintain a customer service attitude toward patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Collaborate with team members to provide the best patient care.
  • Attend and contribute to team conferences.
  • Demonstrate good safety techniques and observe patient confidentiality.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Texas
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist
  • Occupational Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification required prior to first shift
  • Experience in an inpatient setting

Additional Information

  • Emphasis on patient and employee safety, including adherence to safety policies and reporting hazards.
  • Responsible for quality improvement and documentation of quality assurance activities.
