Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality nursing care by following the nursing care plan and supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identifying patient teaching needs and goals in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Providing timely patient information for team conferences and documenting assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately.
- Participating in patient rehabilitation programs and delivering direct patient care using the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating).
- Initiating discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicating changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
- Providing direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel, delegating appropriately.
- Ensuring personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
- Contributing positively to unit functioning and participating in team-building activities.
- Maintaining communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, equipment, and training.
- Assuming charge nurse responsibilities after orientation, as requested.
- Pursuing professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritizing activities and staff to meet patient needs effectively.
The role emphasizes patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and hazard reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift (for certain assignments).
- Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
