Job Description

• Provide quality nutritional care to patients through the development, implementation, and monitoring of Medical Nutrition Therapy.
• Perform nutrition assessments and reassessments, identify nutrition goals and interventions, and monitor and evaluate patient progress.
• Develop and monitor enteral and/or parenteral nutrition support regimens in collaboration with pharmacy and medical staff.
• Collaborate with Speech Therapy regarding diet progression and transitional feeding to meet nutritional needs.
• Clarify admission orders to ensure nutrition support, diet, and oral supplement orders align with established nutrition support formulary and diet manual.
• Consider religious, cultural, and ethnic factors in nutrition care plans.
• Evaluate potential food/drug and herb/supplement interactions.
• Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and staff.
• Develop and implement educational programs for patients and staff; serve as a resource on evidence-based nutrition practice.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds (e.g., wound care, ventilator weaning).
• Engage in departmental and facility Performance Improvement Programs, including data collection and analysis.
• Advise food service staff on special preparation techniques for modified diets and participate in menu planning and standardization.
• Perform meal rounds and tray audits to ensure compliance with prescribed diets and quality standards.
• Review and approve therapeutic diet manuals and educate clinical and food service staff on nutrition care resources.
• Maintain current professional registration and pursue continuing education or specialized certification.
• Act as a liaison between patients, multidisciplinary teams, medical staff, and food service.
• Follow all facility guidelines regarding personal appearance, attendance, and punctuality.
• Promote patient and employee safety by adhering to safety policies and procedures.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks

Work Hours

• 24 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in New Jersey
• Current registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR)
• Bachelor's degree in a food and nutrition-related field
• Minimum of one (1) year of work experience as an RDN in a facility setting with clinical responsibilities within the last year
