Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
- Identify patient teaching needs and goals related to diagnoses through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide timely patient information and status updates during initial and weekly team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs on assigned units.
- Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
- Focus on patient/family education to achieve health goals and quality outcomes.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Communicate changes in patient status to care providers to ensure continuity and safety.
- Seek consultation from senior nursing staff for complex clinical decisions.
- Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel; delegate appropriately.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital and nursing policies.
- Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing calm leadership and reassurance.
- Participate in team-building activities to foster a positive and efficient work environment.
- Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, equipment, and training.
- Provide cost-effective care while promoting quality patient outcomes.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities following orientation, as requested.
- Pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Prioritize activities and plan effective use of time and staff to meet patient needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 2 years bedside clinical experience.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Long Term Acute Care (LTAC), with LTAC experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Additional Information
- Supervisory responsibilities include Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.
